 TIPS for WRITING

·         You have ninety (90) minutes to write.

·         Expository writing explains or informs. Your essay should have an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion.

·         Think carefully about what you are going to write before you begin.

·         Use scratch paper or the back of this sheet to list ideas before you begin writing your rough draft.

·         Use standard English, not e-mail abbreviations (LOL, TX, @).

·         You may use a classroom dictionary or thesaurus.

·         Use a regular or erasable Black Ballpoint Pen for your final draft.

·         Use your best handwriting.

·         You are limited to the front and back of one response form.

·         When you have finished your paper, reread it to make sure that you have said what you want to say.

·         Do not use “White Out”.  Draw a line through any errors and rewrite.

·         Reread your paper one final time.

·         Do your best.

Expository Prompt Background:

Accidents happen to us as well as to people around us. A window breaks; a visit to the emergency room results in stitches and/or a cast; a bicycle crashes; a car wrecks; or something embarrassing happens. What do you remember about an accident that happened to you or to someone you know?
