The goal of the State Department of Education ‘s Science Department is to provide assistance to parents, educators, administrators, students, and the community in issues pertaining to science.  We promote opportunities for students to gain a deep understanding of scientific concepts so they can apply that knowledge in K-12, post secondary institutes, and the work force. These skills should include the ability to acquire relevant information, organize data, develop balanced thought processes, construct new knowledge, and to have a global understanding of issues in science.

To aid this study, it is recommended that local education agencies develop a K-12
science curriculum that clearly defines student learning of content knowledge and skills. The key components of science content knowledge includes understanding the nature and history of science, biology, chemistry, earth science, physics and technology.
This website is designed to support the efforts of local education agencies in aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment to the Idaho Content Standards with Limits.

Please contact us if you have comments or questions regarding material that is posted on this website.
