The Curricular Materials adoption process has its basis in Idaho Code (33-118, 33-118A). Further defined in the Administrative Rules of the State Board of Education, IDAPA 08.02.03.128.
Idaho Adoption Process provides review and evaluation of new curricular materials, according to our six year adoption cycle. Materials are screened for content, organization, presentation and quality. This process maintains local control in choice of instructional materials by providing approved listings of materials in subject areas. All state approved materials are under contract for the length of the adoption cycle, ensuring availability of quality materials, at the lowest possible price.

Schools must submit a waiver requesting to use materials that do not appear on the Adoption Guides. Each waiver needs the approval of the local school board and be submitted with written correlations to the appropriate bank of Idaho Content Standards and/or Common Core State Standards for each grade. Requests are generally granted for new copyrights not currently under adoption or materials not submitted to the Selection Committee for consideration. No requests are granted for any materials denied by the Selection Committee or for old copyrights. Districts purchasing materials prior to the state review and adoption of those materials pose an accreditation issue within their buildings. |
