Explore the Core: Professional Development for the Idaho Core Standards

Looking for professional development around the Idaho Core? The Department is sponsoring several upcoming opportunities.

Currently, ELA/Literacy Idaho Core Coaches and Math Specialists/Directors in each region of the state are offering continual and sustainable Idaho Core Professional Development to educators. The ELA/Literacy Coaches offer open workshops for all educators in each region. Registration information for these Professional Development opportunities can be found on the Idaho Core Standards Professional Development website, along with many other ELA/Literacy and Mathematical Professional Development opportunities.

  • "Transitioning to Common Core – Preparing Idaho's Students for College and Career Readiness"

    This three day workshop will focus on the integrated nature of the Idaho Core Standards with a special emphasis on narrative text types (including poetry) and writing. Participants of all grade levels and all content areas will engage in activities that help them prepare lessons and a unit plan that is focused on the Idaho Core Standards at their grade level.

    July 30-31, 2014, Boise State Universitys of the Common Core State Standards and part of SERP (Strategic Education Research Partnership), will keynote the academy. Wavelength Inc. is returning on July 30 with a program called, "Leaders Who Laugh, Last!"
