2014 State Driver Education Conference

The Idaho State Department of Education is once again offering the State Driver Education Conference. The conference will take place May 2nd-3rd at the Boise Centre on the Grove.

There are many reasons to attend!

  1. Public Safety and Liability. Traffic education is not just an academic subject. It deals with our teens' number one public health issue—driving. Each participant will be given valuable information for minimizing risk and liability exposure for their district, teachers and students.
  2. Ongoing Academic Requirements. Driver education instructors are required to obtain additional education credits for renewal of their teaching license. Participation in this conference can be counted for one semester credit through Northwest Nazarene University. Renewal units can be provided in lieu of credit.
  3. Changing and Emerging Issues. This year's conference addresses the latest traffic safety issues with best practices, including understanding crash dynamics and ways to encourage good driving habits and avoid distracted driving.
  4. Professional Relationships. Networking with one's peers is a very important aspect of staying current in one's profession. For teachers new to the profession, the conference provides opportunities for mentoring.
