Average Scale Score
  • Idaho's writing average scale score for eighth graders in 2007 (154) was higher than in 2002 (151),
  • In 2007, Idaho eighth graders had an average scale score in writing (154) that was not significantly different from their peers nationwide.
  • In 2002, Idaho eighth graders had an average scale score in writing (151) that was not significantly different from their peers nationwide (152).
At or Above Basic (NAEP Basic ≈ ISAT Proficient ≈ Grade Level)
  • Idaho's percent of students at or above Basic in 2007 (88) was higher than in 2002 (84).
  • In 2007, 88 percent of Idaho eighth graders scored at or above Basic (i.e., met/exceeded grade-level expectations) in writing, which was not significantly different from their peers nationwide.
  • In 2002, 84 percent of Idaho eighth graders scored at or above Basic in writing, which was not significantly different from their peers nationwide (84 percent).
