Funding Available to Districts, Charters, Other Community Organizations to Support Out-of-School Programs

(BOISE) – Local education agencies and community-based organizations in Idaho are again invited to apply for funding to support out-of-school programming with the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) grant program. The Idaho Department of Education will award approximately $1.5 million in five-year grants to operate programs in the 2026 – 2027 school year.

Superintendent Debbie Critchfield Addresses House, Senate Education Committees on Reducing Federal Bureaucracy in Public Education

(BOISE) – Superintendent Debbie Critchfield presented a plan to the House and Senate Education Committees Monday to apply for waivers that would grant federal flexibility and reduce administrative red tape in public education. The Department’s federal flexibility proposals are currently out for public comment, with the comment window closing soon.

Critchfield Issues Statement Following the Death of Former Idaho Representative Linden Bateman

(BOISE) – Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield issued the following statement after the death of former Idaho Representative Linden Bateman on Thursday, January 22. Bateman served five terms in the Idaho House of Representatives representing Districts 31 and 32 from 1977 – 1986 before going on to represent District 33 from 2010 – 2016. He also spent his career in the classroom as a high school teacher and has made significant contributions to Idaho’s educational communities.
