The Assessment and Accountability Department supports the vision and mission of the Superintendent by leading Idaho’s statewide assessment and accountability systems. Our goal is to:

  1. Empower all Idaho educational partners use data and assessment results to advance student achievement; and
  2. Explore, identify, develop, and implement tools and resources with education partners to measure valid and reliable student achievement.

Who needs to or can participate in statewide testing

Students enrolled in Idaho public schools, including public charter schools, are required to participate in statewide testing, including NAEP if selected. Parents interested in testing options for their children should contact their local school for seating availability. For more information, refer to Testing Population Requirements.
