Child and Adult Care Food Program
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Services (FNS). The goal of the program is to provide well-balanced nutritious meals to the participants in care at child care centers, family day care homes, outside school hour centers, at-risk afterschool centers, emergency shelters, and adult day care centers.
USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program plays an important role in improving the quality of day care and making it more affordable for many low-income families. In Idaho, over 5 million nutritious meals are served annually to participants through CACFP.
