Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators
The Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators is intended for individuals applying for a certificate in Idaho who have completed an educator preparation program in another country and hold a current credential to teach in another county.
How to Apply
To apply for an Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators, you must submit an application packet with all required documents and fees.
Important: All required documents must be included in one packet for an application to be considered complete.

Required documents and Fees
- Completed and signed Idaho Educator Certification Application packet
- Application fee of $75.00
- Checks and money orders are to be made payable to the Idaho Department of Education
- Credit and debit cards are accepted for walk-in applications only
- Payment is non-refundable
- Cash in the exact amount will be accepted for walk-ins only
- Complete a Background Investigation Check (BIC) (including processing fee)
- Copy of current, valid, out-of-country credential/certificate/license
- Please include translation, if available
- Documentation of teaching experience (which may include):
- Certificated Professional Experience Report
- Letter(s) of recommendation from out-of-country educational agency
- Teacher Evaluations
- Written evaluation of foreign credential and transcripts
- Applicants from a foreign country applying for an Idaho certificate must provide a written evaluation from an AICE or NACES approved organization that is qualified to evaluate foreign credentials and transcripts. This written evaluation must verify an academic equivalency to American-based education, including a course-by-course transcript summary.
