Downwinders® Cancer Benefit Program

Are you an Idaho resident in need of documentation to prove residency for a RECA/Downwinders claim?

Information for Idaho Claimants

Though providing school records is one of the methods by which claimants can establish residency, Idaho’s observance of local control in K-12 education combined with the age of the requested records can make them difficult – if not impossible – to locate.

Fortunately, there are other documents that claimants can provide to show residency. One of those alternate documents is a verified listing in a telephone directory distributed during the appropriate timeframe for the claim. The University of Idaho has offered their historical telephone directory collection for this purpose and has mobilized resources to assist claimants.

To request documentation from the University of Idaho, please fill out this Request for Assistance form provided by the university. Please note that Special Collections staff request 2 – 4 weeks to respond to inquiries due to high demand.
