Safety Information
Idaho educators, school staff, parents and communities work every day to ensure school environments are safe and drug-free places for students to learn and for adults to work.
To monitor that effort every year, schools, districts, and the state collect data on and report on key safety indicators.
Those indicators include the number of incidents of:
· Substance (Tobacco, Alcohol, Other Drugs) Distribution, Use, and Possession
· In-School and Out-of-School Suspensions
· Truancies, Expulsions, and Fights
· Insubordination, Harassment, Bullying, and Vandalism
· Weapons, and non-firearm weapons
Schools also track and report on violent crimes that may be committed on their campuses. Based on a three-year history of violent crimes or high rates of student expulsion, a school can be identified as "persistently dangerous." Parents with children in attending a persistently dangerous school are allowed the opportunity to transfer their child to another school in the district. This School Year, no Idaho school was identified as persistently dangerous.
