The Common Core State Standards [CCSS] for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science and Technical Subjects Unpacked, with explanation

This unpacked version of the CCSS was developed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. It honors the integrated approach of the common core in its unified explanations of how to think about groups of standards and how they can be infused into instruction. There are many versions of unpacked standards being developed around the nation, but though there may be slight variations in format, all can help start the conversation about what the standards mean for the classroom on a daily basis. For without change in instructional practice, the positive effect of the CCSS will be blunted.
