Digital Learning Day is a national campaign that celebrates teachers and shines a spotlight on successful instructional practice and effective technology use in classrooms across the country. Last year's inaugural Digital Learning Day boasted tens of thousands of teachers representing nearly two million students.

This year's second annual Digital Learning Day will be celebrated in Idaho and across the country on February 6, 2013. Join in on the fun! Participation is free and easy. Over the next month, Idaho will enjoy ongoing activities, ideas, and collaboration opportunities in the lead up to Digital Learning Day. Idaho State Department of Education 21st Century Best Practices Technology Integration Recognition Awards!

Enter your classroom in the Idaho Digital Learning Day Awards Program!

Are you a classroom teacher in grades K-12 with a great lesson, art project, or video of classroom integration of technology that you would like to share with educators statewide?

In celebration of Digital Learning Day, the Idaho State Department of Education is sponsoring several awards for best practices in technology integration!

Awards range from $300 to $1,200!
Submission Deadline: Close of Business January 31st!
21st Century Technology Integrated Schoolnet Lesson/Unit Planning
Awards range from $300 for a single educator to $1,200 for educator teams of two to four!
  1. Lesson Plan Best Practice Award – $300 for exemplary lesson plans submitted by an individual educator.
  2. Unit Plan Best Practice Award – $1,200 for teams of two or more educators collaborating to create and submit a unit plan of four-five lessons. (The award will be shared amongst the team.)

Do you have a fabulous lesson plan that integrates technology? In celebration of Digital Learning Day in Idaho, Idaho Educators will be eligible to receive one of two types of recognition awards for exemplary 21st Century Classroom Lesson/Unit Plans submitted into Schoolnet. Awards will be available throughout the remainder of the 2012-2013 school year, until funding is expended.

Digital Art Gallery and Best Practices Schoolnet Lesson Plan in Visual Arts

$300 in art materials

Do you have a terrific art lesson and student art work that you would like to share with colleagues and the community on Idaho’s new Virtual Student Art Gallery! Would you like to receive $300 in art materials for your class? Then enter your lesson and digital photos of student work in the first ever Recognition Awards for Best Practices in Visual Arts!

Video Recognition Awards Documenting Best Practices in Technology Integration

Elementary – $1,000 awards
Junior High School – $1,000 awards
High School – $1,000 awards

Do you have a fabulous lesson or student project that demonstrates the power of technology integration in the 21st Century Classroom to increase student engagement and learning? The Best Practice in Technology Integration Award recognizes Idaho teachers and highlights their innovative practices in Idaho classrooms in the area of technology integration. Technology may include, but is not limited to: T.V. production, classroom or student website design, digital storytelling, iPad apps, flipped classroom, social networking, digital art, or any other type of hardware/software you would like to share with colleagues and the community. The videos will be posted on the SDE website as demonstrations of the fabulous work happening in classrooms across the state! They do not have to be professionally produced. Teachers and/or students should be the authors and producers. 3-5 minutes is all that is needed to showcase your work!
