Day of Discovery Technology Conferences Off to a Great Start!

With successful and engaging technology conferences in Post Falls and Twin Falls already in the books, Idaho's Days of Discovery Regional Technology Conferences are off to an exciting start.

Idaho teachers and administrators who attended the events have had very positive things to say about their experience. Listen below as Twin Falls attendees describe the event and how they plan to use what they learned to increase the engagement of their students and reemphasize the joy of life-long and real-world learning while improving student achievement!

Thanks to Students Come First and the generosity of the J.A. Kathryn Albertson Foundation, the Idaho State Department of Education is hosting a series of regional events throughout the fall called Days of Discovery. These one-day conferences are designed to provide Idaho educators with best practices technology integration training that incorporates the Common Core State Standards.

Each day begins with an inspiring, nationally-recognized keynote speaker. Post Falls and Twin Falls events featured Dean Sharesky, the 2010 International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Leadership Award winner! Customized sessions on integrating Discovery Education for all participants follow the keynote, and then participants take a break to enjoy the provided lunch.

After lunch, attendees can arrange their own afternoon of conference sessions. Session choices cover the following topics: Director's Cut Digital Storytelling, Thinking Outside the Slide: Creating Nonlinear Presentations, Discovery Education Mathematics and the Common Core, Using Digital Media to Strengthen Literacy Across the Curriculum, Classroom Management for Technology: Developing Effective Systems for Technology Integration, The Flipped Classroom, and more.

The first 200 registrants at each event receive either a $50 stipend or one free Idaho State University credit. Lunch is provided as well. These conferences may accommodate 200 to 350 attendees, depending upon the district, and spots are still available for the Days of Discovery to be held in Lewiston on October 13th, in Meridian on October 13th, and in Grace on November 3rd.
