Sustainable Forestry Tour Teachers and school counselors of 3rd through 12th grades are invited to apply to participate in a Sustainable Forestry Tour. During the 3-day program, they may visit private, state and federal forests; tour a sawmill, paper mill and seedling nursery; see a firefighting demonstration; and visit an ancient cedar grove. Throughout the tour, they learn directly from the natural resource professionals who care for our forests, and those who provide products we all use every day. Participants leave with abundant information and resources to explore sustainable forestry and related careers with their students. For more information go to or contact us at, or 208-334-4061.

Partnerships in Education (PIE) Conference This year's PIE Conference will take place in October at Lewiston High School. Plans are already underway as this year the Idaho Science Teachers Association (ISTA) and the Idaho Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) will be partnering with PIE conference. The PIE Committee is looking forward to a stimulating and informative conference with additional workshops available through PIE collaboration with ISTA and ICTM. The collaboration and workshops offered by these entities is sure to assist districts in meeting their professional development needs. If you'd like to take part in this committee or have ideas of what you'd like to see at the conference, such as a tailored session to accomplish your district's goals, please feel free to contact Tate Smith at so that we can work to secure facility space for you. The gathering of teachers and pooling of resources for this conference allows for high quality keynote addresses by national leaders in education as well as high quality workshop presenters.
