The State is no longer providing DMA testing
materials. The funding has been cut and is on hold until further notice.
Districts/Schools are welcome to assess their students with prompts and give
their own DMA at a district or school level. Please contact Chris Avila, Math
Coordinator, at cavila@sde.idaho.gov.

DMA DWA Announcement April 6, 2010
Direct Mathematics Assessment
The Direct Mathematics Assessment (DMA) is formally given in grades 4, 6, and 8.
However, the DMA Toolkit includes general resources for teachers and students in
all grades K-12. These resources include such items as suggested problem solving
strategies and recently identified Power Standards. In addition, specific
DMA-related resources are available for grades 4, 6, 8, and 10, which may be
adapted for other grade levels as necessary and as they reflect our Achievement
Standards.Through adjustment of the particular concepts found with the 4th, 6th,
8th and 10th grade level resources, it is hoped that students at any and all
grade levels will be able to benefit. This DMA Toolkit offers many focused and
helpful aids in preparing students for the Direct Mathematics Assessments
including: the new 4-point Scoring Standard, practice prompts, advice for
students and teachers, and Main Rangefinders. Rangefinders are example student
assessments used to show a mid-range sample (not high or low) of each level of
performance on the scoring scale (1-4). If you have decided to download a copy
of a Toolkit, please note that we have separated the Toolkit by the sections of
its Table of Contents. This is to assist you with the large size of the files.
