The Idaho Migrant Student Information System (MSIS) is a computerized database system that stores, maintains and transfers educational and health information for migrant students. The database has the capability of providing migrant students transfer documents, state and school district monthly and yearly reports, as well as data for the federal performance report. The MSIS assists educators by providing continuity in educational and health reporting and record keeping. Utilizing the MSIS on line capabilities, educators have immediate access to student academic and health information.

The United States Department of Education (USED), Office of Migrant Education (OME), has implemented the Migrant Student Information Exchange (MSIX) initiative to ensure the appropriate enrollment, placement, and accrual of credits for migrant children. The Migrant Student Information Exchange will allow all states to share educational and health information on migrant children who travel from state-to-state and who as a result, have student records in multiple states' information systems. MSIX will work in concert with the existing migrant student information systems that state use to manage their migrant data. States will continue to use their existing migrant student information system to record migrant data. MSIX will download the migrant data and make it available to other state migrant personal through a secure log in.
