IF A NEW BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION CHECK IS REQUIRED FOR AN APPLICANT, THE $40 FEE MUST BE INCLUDED WITH THE PACKET OR IF THE DISTRICT HAS AN ESTABLISHED ESCROW ACCOUNT THIS MUST BE CLEARLY INDICATED ON THE FIRST PAGE OF THE APPLICATION OR THE PACKET WILL BE RETURNED FOR THE $40 FEE.

Provisional Authorization Application Packet The purpose of this authorization is to allow Idaho school districts to request an emergency authorization to hire an individual who is not appropriately certified after all attempts to hire an appropriately certificated person have failed. IMPORTANT: The Provisional Authorization cannot be used for any teacher teaching core content to Title I students in a targeted or schoolwide setting.

Alternative Authorization — Teacher to New Certification/Endorsement Application Packet The purpose of this alternative authorization is to allow Idaho school districts to request a certificate/endorsement when a professional position cannot be filled with someone who has the correct certificate/endorsement.

Alternative Authorization - Pupil Personnel Services Application Packet The purpose of this alternative authorization is to allow Idaho school districts to request a certificate/endorsement when a position requiring the Pupil Personnel Services certificate cannot be filled with someone who has the correct endorsement/certification. (The exception to this rule is the School Nurse endorsement and the Speech Language Pathologist. The requirements for this endorsement are already defined in State Board rule.)

Alternative Authorization — Content Specialist Application Packet The purpose of this alternative authorization is to offer an expedited route to certification for individuals who are highly and uniquely qualified in a subject area to teach in a district with an identified need for teachers in that area.

Computer-Based Alternate Route Process American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) is a computer-based alternate route designed as an avenue to enter the teaching profession; or to add additional certificates or endorsements to an already existing Idaho teaching credential. The candidate must first hold a bachelor’s degree.

NOTE: Important information for candidates who were issued a three-year ABCTE interim certificate prior to January 2009: The B11- Verification of Mentoring form is required for those who received their ABCTE interim certificate prior to January 2009; all others must complete the mentor checklist and the associated components below. The B11 form can be downloaded from the forms section of the main teacher certification homepage. NOTE: this form will not be accepted and the packet will be returned if the three-year ABCTE interim was issued after January 2009.
