Prescription medication - Unlawful use, distribution, sale, solicitation, possession or
purchase of prescription medication in violation of school policy.
Over the counter medication (OTC) - Inappropriate use (as determined by medication
instructions) of any over the counter medication (aspirin, cough syrups, caffeine pills,
nasal sprays) in violation of school policy.
Inhalants - Inappropriate use of breathable chemical vapors which are subject to
abuse such as spray paint, solvents, household and commercial gases, and nitrites
(for example, in antifreeze) in violation of school policy.
Methamphetamines - Violation of laws or ordinances prohibiting the manufacture, sale,
purchase, transportation, possession or consumption of methamphetamine. Suspicion of being
under the influence of methamphetamine may be included if it results in disciplinary action.
Other Drugs - If data related to "other drugs" has been reported prior to April 15th, 2008,
please review the incidents and apply to the specific drug categories below. Do not double report
"other drug" incidents (if a marijuana incident is reported in the marijuana table, it need not be
reported in the "other drugs" table). Any drug incident other than those listed are to be
reflected in the "other drug" category. If your school does not track drug incidents specific
to substance, report all incidents in the "other drugs" category. Plan to track specific drug
incidents in the 2008 / 2009 school year. Please contact the SDFS office for more clarification
Distribution: includes sale and/or providing drugs
to another while on school campus or at school sponsored activities
Use: means use on school campus or at school-sponsored activities.
Possession: means drugs carried by a student
while on the school campus or at school sponsored activities.
O-Susp = Out-of-School Suspensions - Prohibiting school attendance for fewer than ten
Exp = Expelled - Prohibiting school attendance, without services and not being placed in
an alternative setting, for ten or more consecutive school days.
