Idaho State Department of Education Resources

In 2018 the State Department of Education launched IdahoSchools.org, a comprehensive and easy to use school, district and state report card. The website lets parents and other education stakeholders review assessment results and a wide range of other useful information including school demographic data, teacher workforce, enrollment and results from the student engagement survey taken by students in grades 3-8.

The Idaho State Department of Education’s Advanced Opportunities program allows students to individualize their high school learning plan to get a jump-start on the future. These options include dual credit, technical competency credit, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate programs.

School Choice provides parents and families the freedom to choose the method of education that works best for their children. It also allows for meaningful discussions regarding how and where their children will receive their education. School Choice is based on the idea that all children do not learn the same way and may have different needs, interests, or strengths to develop.

Literacy and STEM Resources

Smarty Ants is a special partnership between the Idaho State Department of Education and Achieve3000 that provides all 4-year-olds in Idaho, as well as 5-year-olds who haven’t yet entered kindergarten, a free subscription to an early literacy program designed for young learners. Smarty Ants helps parents jump-start their children’s literacy achievement, ensuring they’re on track to succeed in school and beyond.

Idaho Digital Learning Alliance courses provide students flexibility in taking dual credit or Advanced Placement courses for college credit, recovering credits and even graduating early. The courses it provides align with the Idaho Core Content Standards and are facilitated by an Idaho Certified, Highly Qualified Teacher. The Idaho Legislature created IDLA in 2002.

The Idaho STEM Action Center offers kindergarten through career students opportunities to engage in STEM learning to help build a competitive workforce and strong economy in the Gem State. The center was created by the Idaho Legislature in 2015.

In partnership with the Idaho STEM Action Center, Makerminded opens students’ minds to advanced manufacturing concepts, helping prepare them to meet the demand for highly skilled workers in a growing economy.

The Idaho State Board of Education administers a variety of scholarship programs including the Idaho Opportunity Scholarship, Idaho Opportunity Scholarship for Adult learners, Tschudy Family Scholarship and the Armed Forces / Public Safety Officer Dependent Scholarship.
