Youth Suicide Prevention
The State Department of Education is committed to the health and safety of all Idaho students and provides technical assistance, guidance, training and resources to prevent bullying, violence and suicide.
This page provides resources, links to our partners in suicide prevention, and information on programmatic efforts to foster resilience and grit in an effort to address the root causes of suicide ideation, attempts and completions. The death of a student by suicide is a profoundly tragic event and our goal is to equip schools with the tools to effectively prevent, intervene and if needed, appropriately respond to the sudden death of a student.
Health and Welfare Suicide Prevention Program
The Suicide Prevention Program was established in 2016 to help implement specific strategies in alignment with the Idaho Suicide Prevention Plan (ISPP) and provide a more comprehensive approach to suicide prevention in Idaho to reduce our state’s suicide rate.
Idaho suicide prevention hotline
The Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline, a program of Jannus, is committed to the prevention of suicide in Idaho. The hotline provides crisis intervention, emotional support, resource referrals, linkages to local services, and follow-up for all Idahoans, including those at risk for suicide and their families and loved ones. ISPH listens supportively to callers, empowering them to look at options and come up with their own solutions.
