- Center for Disease Control Mask Requirement on School Buses
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) Mask Executive Order, issued on January 29, 2021, requires masks to be worn on all forms of public transportation (section 5302 of title 49, United States Code) and, section 5302 of title 49 defines public transportation in a way that does not include school buses. While the CDC FAQs indicate that masks be worn on school buses, ultimately, this is a local control issue decided by school boards.
